My First 2D Animation at Falmouth.
As a first 2D animation I feel this was a really interesting place to start. After having done the stop-motion pendulum swings, begin set a water balloon, rather than a standard ball bounce, really forced me to really think a lot more about the shape design expressed through the squash and stretch of the balloon as it falls and bounces. Also I had no idea how a water balloon actually looks like when it drops and bounces and so I spent some time doing a series of drawn studies from the slow motion water balloon footage below, until I, finally, understood the internal fluid dynamics well enough to be able to design the action. I think if id of just been set a standard ball bounce I would of worked, more by feel and intuition, and probably wouldn’t of invested the same about of time in studying the action. Overall, I really like this as a first drawn 2D exercise.
